Guwahati: An employee of the state education department has been arrested by members of Assam’s Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit as he was accepting bribes.
Nabajyoti Das, an employee of the Block Elementary Education Officer of the Khowang Division in the Dibrugarh district of Assam, has been identified as the individual who was detained.
He is currently being held by the police.
This is the second government employee that the anti-corruption team has detained in a single day.
The anti-corruption squad and local police earlier today busted the District Excise Superintendent of Morigaon as he was accepting a Rs 20,000 bribe. In lieu of granting a licence for an open shop, the accused, Barsha Bora Bordoloi, reportedly wanted Rs 1 lakh from the complainant.
