Guwahati: A magisterial level probe has been ordered by the Kamrup (metro) district administration into the death of a prisoner while undergoing treatment at Gauhati medical college hospital (GMCH).
The deceased prisoner identified as Manu Das.
According to a report, Das was admitted at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) on July 3, 2022 for better medical treatment, but died on July 13, 2022.
Das was a resident of Paltan Bazar in Guwahati city.
Reportedly, Das was lodged at Guwahati central jail from May 22.
Assistant commissioner Hemanta Kumar Dutta has been assigned by the metro administration to probe into the matter and submitting a report within 15 days.
