Assam Govt Provides Financial Aid to 11,896 Widows across State

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma gave sanction letters to 11,896 widows throughout the state for a one-time aid of Rs 25,000 on Tuesday.

The event was hosted at Tezpur in Sonitpur district of Assam.

The Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension 2021–2022 allowed for the distribution of sanction letters. The one-time payment was made to all beneficiaries who were women between the ages of 18 and 45 whose spouses passed away on or after April 1, 2019.

In addition to the monthly pension paid out under the plan, this is also available.

Additionally, the chief minister presented Rs. 1 lakh checks to 308 people who lost their homes to floods this year.

Speaking to the crowd in Tezpur, CM Sarma said that within 3 to 6 months, aid will also be provided to Orunodoi plan beneficiaries.

He declared, “The Orunodoi scheme would cover six lakh new beneficiaries, and ration cards will be given to ten lakh new families. Holders of ration cards would receive annual medical insurance coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakhs.

The Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension was introduced in 2020. 2 lakh women received Rs 330 per month under the programme.
