Assam Govt To Give Rs. 5 crore To Assam Agitation Welfare Trust
Guwahati: The Assam Agitation Welfare Trust will receive a grant from the Assam government for Rs 5 crores. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the public of this on Saturday.
The decision was decided at a meeting convened at Janata Bhawan.
The money would be given to the families of Assam Agitation martyrs and victims through different welfare programmes.
Additionally, CM Sarma gave the Assam Accord Implementation Department instructions to compile statistics on the deceased and seriously injured people and to keep an online database.
Taking to Twitter, CM Sarma said, “Discussed a plan of action to strengthen Assam Agitation Welfare Trust. Constituted with a fund of ₹5 cr, the Trust will get additional ₹5 cr from our Govt. The whole amount will be used to assist families of martyrs & victims of Assam Agitation through Govt welfare schemes.”
