Assam Govt To Hold Chintan Shivir in Sep

Guwahati: The Assam government will organise a three-day “Chintan Shivir” in order to examine various concerns and decide on the best course of action in September for its ministers and senior officials.

The decision to hold the special session was made during a state cabinet meeting on Tuesday night that was presided over by the chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

All cabinet ministers and senior most secretaries from around 57 government ministries will attend the proposed “Chintan Shivir,” which would be presided over by the chief minister, according to a cabinet communiqué that Sarma posted on his official Twitter account.

The note continued, “It will discuss several open concerns and formulate a strategy for following up on them in the future.”

The cabinet also approved spending Rs 307.22 crore on the establishment of workshops and technical laboratories in 22 polytechnic colleges in 19 districts and 39 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in 27 districts.

This will give 20,000 students the chance to study new technologies each year and get them ready to meet industry demands, it was said.

Additionally, state employees will have “Special Casual Leave” from February 9 to February 11 of the following year, followed by a Sunday on February 12.

The Cabinet stated that “the employees can spend the time with their living parents or parents-in-law.”

It further stated that Nayanmoni Saikia, who won the gold medal in lawn bowls at the most recent Commonwealth Games, would be named as the deputy superintendent of police.

The state government has made the decision to introduce two sets of repeal measures during the upcoming Assam Assembly’s Autumn Session, which starts on September 12, in order to repeal a total of 316 ineffective and unused acts.

In order to stop the state’s unrelenting encroachment of more than 10,897 bighas (more than 3,602 acres) of “Bhoodan and Gramdan” land, the Cabinet also agreed to revise the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation, 1886.

On November 23 and 24, the Assam government will also host a two-day event in New Delhi to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Ahom general Lachit Borphukan’s birth.
