Assam Govt to release Rs 4 crore for Navagraha Crematorium

Guwahati, 9 July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturay made an announcement for the development of the Navagraha Crematorium in the Silpukhuri area of Guwahati with a sum of Rs. 4 crore.

The crematorium’s projected construction will cost a total of Rs. 8.70 crore. Earlier today, the chief minister visited the crematorium and announced that the government would release a portion of the total cost in order to speed up the construction process.

CM Sarma gave the relevant departments instructions to ensure a smooth conclusion of the planned building activities for development.

The official of the chief minister’s office tweeted, “Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today visited Navagraha Crematorium and gave necessary instructions to the concerned departments for smooth completion of the proposed construction works to be carried out at a cost of Rs. 8.70 crore for the development of the crematorium. An amount of Rs 4 crore will soon be released by the Assam government with an aim to expedite the proposed works of Navagraha crematorium.”

Meanwhile, CM Sarma told reporters, “The historical and religious locations are intended to become popular tourism sites by our government. With this in mind, we’ll be renovating Batadrava Than, building a corridor for Kamakhya Temple and developing Bhimasankar Dham Jyotirlinga Temple, among other things.”

“One of Assam’s top tourist attractions are spiritual sites and the state’s tourism industry will expand as these sites are developed,” he added.
