Assam Gripped by Shock as Two Women Brutally Attacked in Separate Knife Incidents

Assam: Assam has witnessed two horrifying knife attacks in the span of just three days, leaving the state in shock.

In the latest incident, a young woman was brutally assaulted by Bilal Uddin in Batadrava, Nagaon district, after she rejected his love proposal.

The victim, a medical worker, is now in critical condition and battling for her life in a hospital.

Reports indicate that the assailant, unable to accept rejection, coerced the woman and later orchestrated a violent attack with the help of accomplices.

On December 23, three college girls, allegedly acting under Uddin’s instructions, abducted the victim from her clinic, as seen in CCTV footage. She was taken to a hotel in Sonai Ghat, where she was force-fed a toxic substance, leaving her unconscious.

Two hours later, the victim was found critically injured along the highway near Bhomoraguri by Batadrava police and rushed to Nagaon Metro Hospital for treatment.

This gruesome incident occurred just two days before another shocking attack in Guwahati, where a woman, identified as Mousumi Gogoi, was fatally stabbed by her alleged lover, Bhupen Das.

Gogoi, who had filed a police complaint against Das citing threats to her life, was attacked on December 26 while waiting for a Rapido bike outside her rented accommodation in the Last Gate area. Das, who approached her in a Swift Dzire car, attacked her with a knife and fled the scene. Gogoi was immediately taken to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Following the attack, Bhupen Das was arrested by police near a housing complex in Guwahati. Reports suggest that Das, a cab driver and a married man with two children, attempted suicide after the incident but was taken into custody.

Both cases have raised serious concerns about the safety of women in Assam and the rising incidents of violence stemming from unrequited love. Investigations are ongoing, with police working to ensure justice for the victims and stricter measures to curb such crimes.
