Guwahati, 5th Sepetember: In a significant crackdown on smuggling activities, the Assam Police Government Railway Police (GRP) on September 5 seized fake currency notes from Assam’s Bongaigaon and arrested one person carrying these notes.
The arrestee has been identified as Sabir.
As per sources, Sabir was arrested while he was allegedly carrying fake printing notes.
During the search, the police recovered around 1,78,500 counterfeit notes from his possession.
Sources further informed that Sabir is a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
The seized counterfeit notes highlight the ongoing efforts of the Assam Police to curb smuggling and other unlawful activities in the region.
This successful operation underscores the Assam Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and preventing illegal activities within the state.
