Assam: Guwahati Medical College Welcomes First IVF Baby
Guwahati, 28th March: Guwahati Medical College made history as it welcomed its first baby conceived through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) technology, confirmed GMCH principal Achyut Chandra Baishya. The milestone marks a significant advancement in reproductive healthcare at the hospital.
Addressing a press conference, Baishya revealed that the hospital had initiated an infertility clinic in 2022. On March 27, the clinic celebrated the birth of a female baby conceived through IVF. The newborn weighed a healthy 2.6 kg, and both mother and baby were reported to be in stable condition.
Highlighting the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive reproductive services, Baishya disclosed that IVF treatments are conducted every Wednesday and Friday. This regular schedule ensures accessibility and convenience for patients seeking assisted reproductive technologies at Guwahati Medical College.
