Assam: Guwahati’s 10-Year-Old Aaradhyaa Dhanuka Sets Two Guinness World Records in Hula Hooping
Guwahati, 27th August: In a stunning display of talent and perseverance, 10-year-old Aaradhyaa Dhanuka from Guwahati has etched her name into the Guinness World Records, earning the coveted title of “Officially Amazing.” The young prodigy achieved not just one, but two world records in hula hooping, capturing the attention and admiration of people worldwide.
Aaradhyaa, the daughter of Swati and Dr. Ghanshyam Das Dhanuka, and the granddaughter of Kusum and Dr. Ashok Kumar Dhanuka, accomplished these extraordinary feats on May 19, 2024. In the first record-breaking attempt, she hula hooped for an astonishing 21 minutes and 2 seconds, holding the hoop around one arm at a 90-degree angle. This remarkable performance shattered the previous record held by Viha Gedia of the United States.
Not stopping there, Aaradhyaa went on to set a second world record by spinning three hula hoops around her neck for an impressive 4 minutes and 2 seconds. Both achievements were meticulously verified by official witnesses in accordance with the stringent guidelines of the Guinness World Records.
Aaradhyaa’s journey to these accolades has been marked by dedication and hard work over several months, during which she has collected numerous awards and recognitions. Her impressive resume now includes seven state records, three national records, three world records, and even an honorary doctorate in sports.
Expressing her excitement, Aaradhyaa said, “I am thrilled and honored to have my name in the Guinness World Records.” She drew inspiration from Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, who himself set a Guinness World Record on April 13, 2023, for organizing the largest Bihu dance performance and the largest performance by folk musicians with instruments. “After witnessing him achieve a Guinness World Record, I aspired to have one to my name,” she added.
Aaradhyaa hopes that her achievements will inspire others to chase their dreams with the same passion and persistence. Her record-breaking performances have been widely celebrated, bringing immense pride not only to her family but also to the entire state of Assam.
Beyond her personal triumphs, Aaradhyaa is deeply committed to promoting hula hooping across India, emphasizing its significant health benefits. She has already begun sharing her skills with others, notably teaching underprivileged children the art of hula hooping at Mahatma Gandhi Buniyad Vidyalaya during Independence Day celebrations.
Aaradhyaa’s extraordinary accomplishments at such a young age have positioned her as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging others to believe in themselves and pursue their passions with unwavering determination.
