Assam: Head-On Collision Between Two Buses in Rangia, 20 Injured
Guwahati, 1 June: In a tragic road accident, at least 20 people were injured in a head-on collision between two buses on Thursday at Rangia in Kamrup district of Assam.
According to reports, the accident took place between a passenger bus and a school bus near Cheptia village in Rangia subdivision.
Notably, no students were inside the school bus at the time of the incident.
Meanwhile, the injured passengers of the other bus were taken immediately to a nearby hospital for medical care.
Earlier on Sunday night, as many as seven students from Assam Engineering College (AEC) were killed that took place in Jalukbari area of Guwahati.
According to reports, the students were travelling in a Scorpio car when the driver lost control and hit a divider and then crashed into a Bolero DI pick-up van that was parked on the Jalukbari Flyover road.
The students who have been killed in the accident are: Arindam Bhowal and Niyor Deka from Guwahati, Kaushik Mohan from Sivasagar, Upangshu Sarmah from Nagaon, Raj Kiran Bhuyan from Majuli, Emon Barua from Dibrugarh, Kaushik Baruah from Mangaldoi
As per the initial information received, ten persons were there inside the vehicle when the accident took place.
Out of the ten students seven died on spot and three others were taken to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in critical condition.
The injured students have been identified as: Mrinmoy Bora, Arnab Chakraborty and Arpan Bhuyan. And the other injured who were in Bolero pickup van have been identified as Mozammil Haque, Yusuf Ali and Rajiv Ali.
However, police reached the spot immediately after the incident but could not save them as they died on the spot.
