Assam: Heatwave Claims Another Life in Kamrup District
Guwahati, 27th July: Severe heatwave conditions in Assam have claimed another life, as a daily wage worker succumbed to the extreme temperatures on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Jogen Kalita, 55, from Kamrup district’s Rangia, was reportedly working under the blistering sun before he fell ill. According to sources, Kalita went out for his usual labor work despite the scorching heat. After completing his day’s work, he returned home in the evening feeling unwell.
Kalita suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed. His family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, but despite their efforts, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
This tragic incident underscores the growing threat posed by extreme weather conditions in the region. Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions, including staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, to mitigate the risk of heat-related illnesses.
