Assam: Heroin Seized By State Police In Bongaigaon district, 2 arrested

Guwahati, 18th August: In a decisive move against the drug trade, Bongaigaon district police successfully executed an anti-drug operation in Abhayapuri, resulting in the arrest of two individuals involved in smuggling illegal substances.

The operation took place on State Highway 2 at Deohati, where authorities intercepted a motorcycle with registration number AS 14 J 5589, suspected of carrying a substantial quantity of heroin. During the raid, the police apprehended Morjina Khatun and Zahirul Haque and recovered three soap boxes containing a substance believed to be heroin.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment, totaling 119 grams of suspected heroin, was en route from Langla to Abhayapuri Deohati for distribution in the region.

The arrested individuals are currently under interrogation as police continue to probe the broader drug network involved. Further investigations are ongoing.
