Assam: Heroin worth Rs 1.4 crore seized in Guwahati, 3 peddlers arrested

Assam: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) seized a substantial amount of heroin worth nearly Rs 1.4 crore in Guwahati’s Balughat area on Friday evening. Three drug peddlers were apprehended in connection with the seizure.

Acting on specific intelligence, the STF, led by Inspector Kapil Pathak, conducted raids in Balughat and Beltola Bazar. During the operation, law enforcement officials recovered 27 vials containing 36.05 grams of heroin, a mobile phone, a scooter, and some cash from one of the arrested individuals.

Subsequently, based on information provided by the arrested peddler, the police raided a rented house in Beltola Bazar and apprehended two more individuals. From their possession, the authorities seized 102 vials containing 138 grams of heroin and two mobile phones.

The total estimated value of the seized drugs is around Rs 1.4 crore, as per the standards set by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Further investigations are currently underway to delve deeper into the drug trafficking network and identify potential accomplices.
