Assam: Heroin worth Rs 210 crore seized in Silchar
Guwahati, 5th April: In a landmark development, Assam witnessed its largest-ever drug bust on Thursday, April 4. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed the seizure of a heroin consignment valued at Rs 210 crore in Cachar district of the state. Following the operation, one individual has been apprehended in connection with the drug haul.
CM Sarma lauded the operation as a crucial step towards achieving a “drugs-free Assam.” A total of 21 kg of heroin was seized in Silchar through a collaborative effort between the STF of Assam police and Cachar district police.
Commending the Assam police for their swift action, CM Sarma highlighted that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the drugs supply network, emphasizing the state’s commitment to combating the drug menace.
