Assam Higher Secondary Open School Exams Suspended Due to Severe Flooding

Guwahati, 2nd July: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced the suspension of the State Open School (SOS) examinations for the Higher Secondary (HS) level, which were originally scheduled for July 3, 2024. This decision comes in light of the widespread flooding affecting numerous districts in Assam, with many rivers surpassing the danger mark.

AHSEC issued a notice instructing all concerned institutions to inform their associated learners and tagged institutions about the suspension. The examinations, initially planned for April-May 2024, will be rescheduled once floodwaters recede and conditions stabilize across the state.

Emphasizing the paramount importance of safety, AHSEC has directed the Officer-in-Charge of each designated examination center to ensure the secure storage of all confidential examination materials. These materials, including blank answer scripts and additional resources, are to be safeguarded in local Police Stations and Treasury Offices. Coordination with police and treasury officials has been mandated to ensure the integrity and security of these materials until the examinations can be rescheduled.

AHSEC assured that further details regarding the revised examination schedule will be communicated in due course as the flood situation improves. They urge all institutions and learners to stay updated with official announcements for additional instructions and developments.
