Assam Home Department Elevates Six IPS Officers in state Police
Guwahati, 7th December: The Assam State Home Department recently declared the promotion of six Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, demonstrating a commitment to acknowledging and advancing the careers of law enforcement personnel in the state.
According to the Home Department’s notification, Anti-Corruption SP Barun Purkayastha of Guwahati Shrimantapur, SP Mayang Kumar of Dima Hasao, Sumit Sharma on deputation, and SP Swetang Mishra from Dibrugarh have all been promoted. The state government’s home (P) department issued an order to effect these promotions.
IPS Barun Purkayastha has ascended to the Junior Administrative Grade of IPS at level 12 in the Pay Matrix. Simultaneously, IPS Mayang Kumar secured a promotion to level 12 in the Pay Matrix, achieving Junior Administrative Grade of IPS.
IPS Sumit Sharma has also received a proforma promotion to the junior administrative grade of IPS at level 12 in the pay matrix.
Conversely, IPS Swetang Mishra has been elevated to 12 levels, attaining the junior administrative grade of IPS in the pay matrix. This promotion is set to take effect from January 1, 2024, and the officers will retain their current posts until further orders.
Additionally, SDPO Srijal Agarwala of Rangia and SDPO RS Kumar of Bokakhat have also seen advancements. Srijal Agarwal and Renukuntiya Sheetal Kumar have been elevated to 11 levels in the senior time scale post of IPS in the pay matrix. They will persist in their current roles until further directives. The promotion of these police officers will be applicable to their ‘Grade Pay.’
