Guwahati: A home guard posted at the Morigaon police station in Assam allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a pistol on Sunday.
The incident occurred near the office of the Superintendent of police, Morigaon.
The jawan who committed suicide has been identified as Rontu Medhi who was a resident of Kahibari in the Morigaon district.
Meanwhile, the reason behind this sudden and extreme step is not known yet but it is suspected that the home guard was struggling with personal issues due to which he took this drastic step.
It is to be noted that the suicide of a home guard in front of the Morigaon superintendent of policeβs office has created a stir.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
