Assam: Huge consignment of Marijuana seized in Guwahati, 2 held

Guwahati, 24th January: In an ongoing effort to combat drug-related activities, a Special Task Force (STF) headed by STF chief Parthasarathi Mahanta successfully intercepted a truck carrying a significant amount of marijuana at Beharbari in Guwahati on January 24.

According to reliable sources, the STF team discovered the illicit cargo hidden beneath raw rubber from a neighboring northern state. Upon thorough inspection, the team seized a staggering 4000 kg of marijuana from the vehicle. The estimated value of the confiscated consignment is reported to be Rs 10 crore.

The STF operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in the illegal transportation. The arrested individuals are identified as Raju Sharma (46), a resident of Bihpuria under Lakhimpur district, and Biswajit Das (29), residing in Lakhipur under Cachar district.

Both individuals taken into custody are now undergoing legal procedures as the STF continues its commitment to curbing drug-related activities in the region.
