Assam: Husband Allegedly Commits Suicide After Killing Wife at AMCH
Guwahati: A terrible incident occurred at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh where an accused allegedly committed suicide on Friday.
According to reports, the man identified as Ranjit Das claimed that he killed his wife by slicing her throat with a knife before killing himself in a similar way.
The body was discovered in a pool of blood in the surgical department’s restroom.
Reportedly, Ranjit Das, who is a resident of Tinsukia was being held by the Tinsukia Police after allegedly stabbing Raja Chakraborty on August 14. He was taken into custody by the Tinsukia Police, but on the way to the station, he doused himself in acid.
The accused was immediately taken for treatment at AMCH, on August 15.
While the accused was being protected by the police, Ranjit and his wife walked to the restroom. However, the police became suspicious after the pair failed to appear for a while and broke down the door, only to discover them lying in a pool of blood.
He was treated even though he was still conscious after his wife was pronounced dead. Das was later pronounced dead as well.
The incident has generated controversy in the area on how the accused was able to commit the crime while being protected by police.
