Guwahati: Assam Police today arrested a person from Nagaon district of the state in the double murder case.
The arrested has been identified as Jayakanta Das from Kampur of Nagaon.
As per sources, Jayakanta Das has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and a TET teacher.
The victims identified as Geeta Rani Das and Bhaskar Nath was found murdered inside a rented house under mysterious circumstances.
Both of them were recovered with signs of brutal assault.
Following the incident, the police have launched an investigation into the gruesome murder.
According to preliminary reports, the victims were beaten to death with a rod.
The motive behind the murder is suspected to be an extramarital affair.
The accused, Jayakanta Das, surrendered at the Kampur police station.
The police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him to determine the circumstances surrounding the murder.
It needs to mention that Bhaskar Nath, the slain TET teacher, hailed from Mangaldoi.
