Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Assam Police seized codeine-based cough syrup worth Rs 50 lakh in Karimganj district.
Based on a tip-off, Karimganj Police launched a search operation against drugs and intercepted a dumper truck on the highway at the Badarpur area.
On checking the vehicle, the officials recovered 9,900 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup from the truck.
According to reports, the truck driver fled from the area.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Badarpur police station and investigation is underway to nab the driver and owner of the truck.
