Assam: Illegal drug den busted by State Police in Baksa, 2 arrested
Guwahati, 5th April: In a proactive move against the illicit cannabis trade, the Banhbari police, led by Nilotpal Saikia, the sub-divisional police officer of Salbari, conducted a targeted raid in Chunbari, Baksa. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two individuals involved in the illegal trade, along with a significant quantity of cannabis.
The individuals arrested for their involvement in the ganja trade were identified as Phoolchand Ravidas from Chunbari and Sonauddin from Elangamari. The raid unfolded at Phoolchand Ravidas’s residence in Chunbari, where he was caught in the act of selling 5 kilograms of ganja to Sonauddin. The intervention of the police led to the immediate arrest of both individuals.
Following the arrests, a thorough search of Phoolchand Ravidas’s residence was conducted, resulting in the discovery and confiscation of an additional 692 grams of ganja. The combined total of ganja seized from Phoolchand Ravidas amounted to 5 kilograms and 692 grams.
Phoolchand Ravidas and Sonauddin are currently under interrogation at the Banhbari police station as part of the ongoing investigation into the ganja trade. The police remain vigilant in their efforts to crack down on illegal activities and maintain law and order in the region.
