Assam: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 33 Districts Amidst Worsening Weather Conditions

Guwahati, 26th March: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 33 districts in Assam as the weather situation in the region deteriorates. Forecasts indicate the likelihood of heavy rain, lightning strikes, and severe storms within the next 24 hours.

Districts including Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar, Golaghat, and others are on high alert, with authorities warning residents to brace for adverse weather conditions. Reports of electricity outages and structural damage due to lightning strikes have already emerged, particularly in Jorhat district where several houses have collapsed.

The IMD’s yellow alert advises residents to take necessary precautions and stay indoors to ensure their safety. Emergency services are on standby to respond to any emergencies, and residents are urged to stay updated through local news channels and official weather updates.
