Assam Imposes Restrictions on Firecrackers Ahead Of Diwali

Guwahati, 8th November: In Assam, a set of regulations has been implemented regarding the use of firecrackers during festivals, particularly Diwali.

As per the notification signed by Diganta Barah, Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, only green crackers are permitted for sale, and the use of firecrackers is limited to a specific timeframe.

During Diwali, the bursting of firecrackers is allowed for only two hours, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM. There is a complete ban on bursting sound-emitting firecrackers between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Furthermore, specific timeframes have been established for other festivals as well. For Chatt Puja, firecrackers are allowed from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. During Christmas and New Year’s evening, they are permitted from 11:55 PM to 12:30 AM. These regulations aim to strike a balance between festive celebrations and noise pollution control.
