Assam: Indian Army Refutes Allegations of Exploiting Youths Made by Ex-Jawan turned ULFA (I) Cadre

Guwahati, 1st November: The Indian Army has strongly refuted allegations made by a former jawan turned ULFA (I) cadre, stating that the claims of exploiting youths are baseless and malicious. In a press note, the Indian Army dismissed the accusations as an attempt to tarnish its image.

The press note mentioned that the ULFA (I) cadre, Paban Neog, had joined the Army in 2017 but proceeded on leave in May 2023 and did not return, leading to his desertion as per Army rules.

The Army also refuted claims regarding a blast in Tinsukia’s Makum involving Neog’s former colleagues, stating that no such incident occurred in May 2023.

Earlier, a video had emerged in which Paban Neog accused security forces of exploiting young individuals to conduct fake blasts and defame the ULFA (I). He alleged that he had left the Army due to these disagreements and joined the banned outfit in June 2023.
