Assam: Indian Army To Deploy Indigenous LCH Choppers at Missamari Base In Sonitpur

Guwahati: The Indian Army will station the light combat helicopters (LCH) Prachand that were locally constructed at the Missamari facility in Sonitpur district of Assam.

The action will significantly improve its military prowess on the eastern front.

One of India’s Army Aviation Brigades is located at Missamari. The other two aviation brigades of the Indian Army are located in Jodhpur and Leh.

The Indian Army will have four Prachand helicopters, which it would have purchased from Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) by the end of October.

They will perform their duties in Arunachal Pradesh’s forward areas along the Sino-Indian border.

The Indian Army formed the Missamari Army Aviation Brigade in March 2021. Three squadrons in total are working out of the base.

Notably, Chinese activity near the border in Arunachal Pradesh’s eastern sector has increased.
