Assam: IndiGo Flight Safely Returns to Guwahati After Temporary Diversion to Dhaka
Guwahati, January 13, 2024: An IndiGo flight, bearing the flight number 6E 5319, has successfully landed at Guwahati Airport after being temporarily diverted to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The diversion occurred in the early hours of Saturday, January 13, when dense fog at Guwahati Airport hindered the aircraft’s landing. The IndiGo flight was en route from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, and it safely landed at Guwahati Airport after taking off from Dhaka at approximately 11:10 am today.
The unexpected layover in Dhaka affected a total of 178 passengers who were onboard the flight. The diversion was a precautionary measure due to the thick fog reducing visibility during the attempted landing at Guwahati Airport.
The airline promptly issued a statement, assuring passengers still onboard in Dhaka that they were provided with refreshments during the layover. Additionally, arrangements for an alternate crew to fly the passengers back to Guwahati are currently underway.
This incident highlights the airline’s commitment to passenger safety and the necessary precautions taken in adverse weather conditions.
