Assam Investment Summit Draws Global Attention with Record Participation and Cultural Showcase

Guwahati: The ongoing investment summit in Assam has emerged as a landmark event, attracting representatives from over 60 countries eager to explore business opportunities in the region.

Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, highlighted the summit’s grand scale on February 25, emphasizing its significance in shaping Assam’s economic future.

With participation from top industry leaders across diverse sectors, the summit is set to receive a major boost with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the event. According to Margherita, the Assam state cabinet has already approved Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over ₹1.2 lakh crore, with projections indicating total investments could exceed ₹1.5 lakh crore by the summit’s conclusion.

Adding to the cultural grandeur of the occasion, over 10,000 artists performed ‘Jhumoir,’ the traditional folk dance of Assam’s indigenous communities, in the presence of the Prime Minister. The spectacle was a tribute to 200 years of Assam tea, the state’s first industry and a symbol of its rich heritage.

Describing the summit as a historic milestone for Assam’s development and global outreach, Margherita underscored the state’s commitment to fostering an investment-friendly environment. With a strong focus on economic expansion and international collaboration, the event is expected to position Assam as a key player in India’s growth story.
