Assam: ITI Student Brutally Murdered in Namdang Tea Estate, Community Demands Justice

Guwahati, 3rd June: Tragedy struck the Namdang tea estate community as Aditya Bhumij, a 20-year-old ITI student from Purna Line, was found brutally murdered near the McLeod Russell Company Namdang tea estate on Saturday night. His mutilated body was discovered hours after he was forcibly taken from his home by two acquaintances, Pranjal Jyoti Sharma and Ujjal Sonowal.

According to reports, Aditya left his home around 8:00 pm on Saturday after being summoned by Sharma and Sonowal. Concern grew when he failed to return, prompting his family and local residents to initiate a search. Sadly, their worst fears were realized when Aditya’s lifeless body was uncovered near the tea estate.

In response to the heinous crime, local resident Ajay Tanti has urged the Margherita sub-divisional administration and police to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrators. Currently, Pranjal Jyoti Sharma and Ujjal Sonowal are undergoing interrogation by Margherita police as part of the ongoing investigation.

The grief-stricken mother of the deceased expressed her anguish, asserting that Aditya was taken against his will, and the two individuals responsible fled following the incident. The community mourns the loss, with a somber atmosphere enveloping the Bhumij household.

Aditya’s remains were transported to Tinsukia for a postmortem examination and returned on Sunday night for the final rites. Authorities are diligently investigating the case to ensure that those involved are held accountable and justice is served for Aditya Bhumij and his grieving family.
