Guwahati, 30th December: A jail warden was taken into police custody at Dhubri district jail for allegedly supplying marijuana and illegal contraband to prisoners.
The jail warden has been identified as Bibhajan Basumatary.
The arrest occurred when Basumatary attempted to enter the jail gate with psychotropic and illegal drugs.
Another vigilant personnel on duty apprehended him, leading to his arrest.
The superintendent of Dhubri district jail filed an FIR, and the police, after registering a case, produced Basumatary before the court.
The court remanded him to police custody for two days.
An investigation is underway to uncover the source of the drugs and identify intended recipients among the inmates.
