Assam: Joint Raid Targets Morigaon Forest Officer Over Alleged Misconduct

Assam: A joint raid by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance team and the Forest Department targeted the Morigaon Regional Forest Office on allegations of misconduct involving forest officer Shivani Pegu Doley.

The operation extended to her residence in Panjabari and several other locations connected to her and her husband, Ashwini Doley, the Chief Executive Officer of the Sivasagar District Council.

During the raids, investigators uncovered a large quantity of valuable timber at the Panjabari residence, along with assets that appeared disproportionate to their declared income.

Authorities suspect that the timber may have been illegally sourced and potentially misused due to Shivani Pegu Doley’s official position.

Preliminary sources indicate the timber could be linked to smuggling activities, further intensifying the probe.

As part of the ongoing investigation, simultaneous raids are being conducted at properties in Panjabari, Sivasagar, and Shivani Pegu Doley’s office in Morigaon. The case is under active scrutiny, with authorities working to uncover the full extent of the alleged misconduct.
