Guwahati: What began as a joke turned tragic when a worker at North East Granulators Company inadvertently whacked a co-worker in the head with an iron rod at Chaygaon town in Kamrup district of Assam on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased identified as Ratneswar Das and the accused Mohan Das.
According to reports, both of them smacked each other in a joking matter at first.
However, Mohan suddenly smashed Ratneswar in the head with an iron pipe.
Reportedly, Ratneswar died on the spot.
Meanwhile, police officials from Boko police station reached the spot of the incident after receiving the information.
Moreover, the body of the deceased was sent for post mortem.
It needs to be mentioned that the police have initiated a probe into the matter and further investigation into the matter is underway.
