Assam: Journalist reaches Sikkim, spreads awareness about journalists’ security rights
Guwahati: Snehankar Chakraborty, an Assam-based journalist, travelled to Gangtok, Sikkim’s state capital, to spread the message of social safety and raise awareness about journalists’ security rights.
Chakraborty has launched a programme to raise awareness about media safety and security.
The decision was made in response to a number of obstacles and issues experienced by media professionals.
In Assam, however, Chakraborty has already begun a bicycle ride with the goal of covering 1000 kilometres across the state to raise awareness about the issue.
“We should know the rights of the journalist,” Snehankar Chakraborty told the reporters in Gangtok. “In reality, some of the unions are working for it in India, and we have laws that are genuine, but we should be conscious of it.”
He also stated that he would cover all of the North-Eastern states, as well as South Asian countries and India.
Furthermore, the journalist stated that more than 700 journalists have been slain between now and 2020 – a documented figure – and that events in places like Syria and Myanmar have become a source of concern for the global media community.
