Assam: KAAC Chief Leads Fiery Protest Against Attack on CM Sarma’s Convoy

DIPHU: In a strong show of solidarity and condemnation, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang today spearheaded a massive protest demonstration in Diphu, decrying the recent attack on Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s convoy in Golaghat. The demonstration, a joint initiative by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s East Karbi Anglong District Committee (BJP-EKADC), saw a significant turnout of party workers and supporters.

Addressing the impassioned gathering, Ronghang unequivocally condemned the June 30 incident, labelling it an “unacceptable assault on democratic values.” He highlighted that the Chief Minister’s convoy was reportedly targeted by members of the Indian National Congress and Youth Congress, an act that has since ignited a political firestorm across the state.

Ronghang, mincing no words, described the incident as a clear manifestation of the opposition’s burgeoning frustration. “Such acts of aggression,” he asserted, “reflect a dangerous pattern of political intolerance and must be denounced by all who believe in democracy.” His remarks resonated deeply with the crowd, who vociferously echoed his sentiments.

The protest witnessed a robust participation from local BJP cadres, who passionately chanted slogans demanding immediate accountability and stringent action against those responsible for the attack. The BJP has squarely laid the blame at the Congress’s door, accusing them of orchestrating the assault out of sheer political desperation, especially in light of the surging public support for the BJP-led state government.
