Assam: Kamrul Haque Senior Secondary School in Patharkandi Closed Indefinitely Following Assault Incident

Guwahati, July 22 In a decisive move, the district administration has mandated the indefinite closure of Kamrul Haque Senior Secondary School in Patharkandi, Karimganj. This action follows a recent incident where three teachers from Patharkandi College allegedly assaulted a Class 11 student on the school’s premises.

The student’s deteriorating health required immediate transfer to a hospital in Guwahati for advanced care, triggering widespread protests by residents and students. These protests led to road blockades and heightened unrest in the area.

In response, the District Commissioner has imposed Section 144 in Patharkandi to curb gatherings and movements, aiming to restore order. The indefinite closure of Kamrul Haque Senior Secondary School is intended to ensure the safety of students and staff, and to prevent further escalation of the situation.
