Assam: Kamrup District Administration Forms 25 Flying Squads for Election Preparedness

Guwahati, 17th March: The Kamrup District Commission and District Election Commissioner have unveiled crucial details regarding the upcoming elections in Guwahati, aimed at ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process. Here’s a breakdown of the key developments:

1. Strong Room Establishment: The Election Commission has mandated the establishment of a robust strong room at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre to safeguard the integrity of the ballots, ensuring their security throughout the electoral process.

2. Polling Stations and Oversight: Guwahati constituency will host 1,026 polling stations, with election authorities poised for comprehensive oversight. This includes the formation of 25 groups of flying squads tasked with monitoring the situation closely and maintaining vigilance.

3. Nomination Procedures: Candidates vying for office can submit their nominations at the District Commissioner’s chamber, with the submission deadline slated for April 19. Subsequently, candidates have until April 22 to withdraw their nominations, allowing for a fair and transparent selection process.

4. Official Commencement: The electoral process will kick off with the issuance of a notification on April 12, marking the official commencement of proceedings. With a significant voter base of 20,19,444 registered in the Guwahati Lok Sabha Constituency, the upcoming elections hold considerable significance for all stakeholders.

5. Enhanced Accessibility: In a bid to streamline the nomination process and enhance accessibility for candidates, an innovative app titled ‘Suvidha’ has been launched. This initiative aims to facilitate seamless submission and management of nominations, thereby simplifying the overall electoral process.

6. Citizen Engagement: To address any election-related concerns or grievances, citizens are encouraged to report complaints through the designated call number: 1950. This proactive measure underscores the Election Commission’s commitment to fostering transparency and accountability throughout the electoral journey.

With these comprehensive measures in place, the stage is set for a dynamic and participatory electoral process in Guwahati, reflecting the vibrancy of democracy and the collective voice of its citizens.
