Assam: Kamrup Metro District Schools to Revert to Regular Timings; Enhanced Security Measures Introduced

Guwahati, 29th September: Starting October 1, 2024, all government, provincialized, and private schools in Kamrup (Metro) District have been instructed to resume their regular school schedules. This directive supersedes previous orders and applies to all educational institutions within the district.

In addition to this change, the District Elementary Education Officer, under the Assam Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission, has issued new security protocols following a recent fatal stabbing incident at a school in a neighboring district. Effective immediately, all schools in Kamrup Metro are required to implement stricter safety measures to protect students and prevent similar incidents.

Key security measures include:

  1. Daily Bag and Pocket Checks: Class teachers must inspect students’ bags and pockets at the start of each school day to ensure that no prohibited items, such as weapons, sharp objects, or harmful substances (including liquids, gutka, tobacco, or cigarettes), are brought to school.
  2. Immediate Action for Violations: If any restricted items are found, they must be confiscated, and the student’s parents must be informed without delay.

These new measures aim to enhance the safety and well-being of students in the district’s schools, ensuring a secure learning environment for all.
