Assam: Kanwariya Killed in Hit-and-Run During Bolbom Festivities in Bongaigaon

Guwahati, 5th August: In a tragic incident, a kanwariya died after being hit by a speeding car in Bongaigaon district of Assam on August 5.

The accident occurred in Talguri village under Boitamari subdivision.

The victim has been identified as Surjit Sarkar and was a resident of Bilasipara in Dhubri district.

As per sources, Sarkar was en route to a local temple to participate in the Bolbom rituals when he was allegedly hit by an unidentified vehicle.

Notably, Sarkar was the former President of Bilasipara at All Assam Students ‘Union.

The accident took place while Sarkar was riding his bike with the registration number AS 17 M 1333. The incident has left the region in shock, dampening the joyous spirit of the Bolbom celebrations.

Authorities are currently investigating the hit-and-run to identify the vehicle involved and bring justice to Sarkar’s bereaved family.
