Assam: Karimganj Bypass Road Blocked for Vehicular Movement

Guwahati: The Karimganj bypass road near Paomara has been blocked to all vehicular traffic as the road has been breached by flood.

The public has been urged by the district government to take an alternate route from Baba Hotel to Paomara via Karimganj town. Materials are being mobilised to repair the damage, and traffic will resume as soon as possible.

A review meeting about the flood situation in the Karimganj District was presided over by Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He talked with every department official and considered the district’s actual circumstances. He gave instructions to all the officials of all related departments to coordinate their efforts in order to ensure appropriate supply and distribution of relief supplies, regular data updates in FRIMS Assam, an adequate supply of animal feed, and accurate evaluation of damaged property.

The minister said, “All circle officers should input accurate data in FRIMS Assam as it will help the government in accurately determining the level of damage.” Additionally, he gave the district administration’s cheques for Rs 4 lakhs apiece to the relatives of those killed in the district’s floods.
