Guwahati, 5th March: The Karimganj District Congress Committee has written to the party high command proposing the name of Hafiz Rashid Chowdhury for the Karimganj constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a letter addressed to the All India Congress Committee in charge of Assam, the Karimganj DCC chief stated, “The Karimganj District Congress Committee is highly prepared for the Lok Sabha election and waiting for the declaration of the names of Congress candidates. In this connection, I am to state that Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Chowdhury, whose name was recommended by the DCC, is the only suitable and popular candidate whose possibility is 100 per cent to win the election at the present situation. So I would request you to consider the name of Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Chowdhury, senior advocate, as the Congress candidate for Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency. Otherwise, the result of the 2019 election may perhaps repeat.”
Meanwhile, the Hailakandi District Congress Committee has also sent a letter to the party high command proposing Chowdhury’s name for consideration.
