Guwahati, 9th September: In a significant development, Karimganj police have arrested Hemant Kumar Gogoi, the alleged mastermind behind a substantial financial fraud scheme. The arrest occurred in the Paltanbazar area of Guwahati on September 9.
Gogoi is accused of orchestrating a large-scale fraud through multiple money marketing companies, deceiving thousands of victims. On September 3, Karimganj police raided Singhaniya Fintech Acquisition Company on Sharisha Road, Karimganj, where they seized incriminating documents and arrested Rahul Roy, the office manager.
The fraudulent operation had collected Rs 2,000 from approximately 2,000 individuals with false promises of loan provision. The raid and subsequent investigation led to Gogoi’s arrest. Authorities also revealed that Gogoi faces five pending cases in Meghalaya, intensifying the gravity of the charges. The investigation continues as authorities strive to uncover the full scope of the scam.
