Assam: Karimganj Police Seize Drugs Worth Rs 30 Crore Hidden in Vehicle’s Petrol Tank

Guwahati, 11th July: In a significant operation led by Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das, Karimganj police intercepted a vehicle bearing the registration number AS/23/Z/6145 and recovered contraband drugs worth Rs 30 crore hidden inside its petrol tank.

The operation, which unfolded last night on July 10, targeted a vehicle traveling from Champai in Mizoram through the Ratabari area. Upon thorough inspection, the police discovered one lakh Yaba tablets concealed within the vehicle’s petrol tank.

Authorities promptly arrested two suspects identified as Najmul Hussain and Mutlib Ali, both residents of Patharkandi in Karimganj district. The individuals are currently in police custody and undergoing intensive interrogation.

Superintendent Partha Pratim Das commended the swift action of his team and emphasized the importance of such operations in curbing the illegal drug trade in the region. The seizure of such a large quantity of narcotics underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to maintain peace and security in Karimganj.
