Assam: Karimganj Police Thwart Cross-Border Cattle Smuggling, Rescue Seven Cows; Two Held
Guwahati, 17th November: In a proactive move against cross-border criminal activities, Girishganj Police in Karimganj rescued seven cows and apprehended two individuals involved in an attempt to smuggle cattle across the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Acting on specific information, the Girishganj Watch Post intercepted the smugglers, identified as Jamir Ali and Saidul Hussain, in the West Sedulbhag area.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individuals as authorities intensify efforts to curb illegal activities along the porous border.
This accomplishment follows a broader campaign to bolster border security, reflecting a commitment to clamp down on smuggling operations and maintain law and order.
In a parallel incident on November 16, Rupahihat Police Station in Nagaon successfully recovered 11 stolen cattle, accompanied by the seizure of the carrying vehicle involved in the smuggling operation.
The vigilant police action underscores a collective effort to tighten security measures and deter criminal elements along vulnerable border regions.
