Assam: Kaziranga Border Reels as Forest Employee Arrested in Child Assault Case

Guwahati: A wave of shock and anger has swept through Atheniq Village, nestled near the Kaziranga National Park border, following the arrest of a 50-year-old Forest Department employee.

The man, identified as Ram Nayak, an elephant mahout residing in No. 1 Kohora, stands accused of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl.

Dolamara Police swiftly acted upon a formal complaint, apprehending Nayak and taking him into custody. The gravity of the allegations has ignited a firestorm of community outrage, with residents demanding swift and decisive legal action. Authorities have confirmed the registration of Case No. 03/2025, signaling the commencement of a comprehensive investigation into the deeply disturbing incident.
