Assam: Kaziranga National Park Sees Record-Breaking Tourist Inflow, Revenue in 2024

Guwahati: Assam’s Kaziranga National Park (KNP) witnessed its highest tourist footfall in two decades, with a remarkable 164,636 visitors recorded across its four ranges since its reopening in October 2024.

Officials revealed that the park generated a record-breaking revenue of ₹4.32 crore from entry fees alone, reflecting its growing appeal among tourists.

The park, which typically remains open from October to May before its monsoon closure, has seen a consistent rise in visitor numbers. October 2024 welcomed 30,058 tourists, a significant jump from 17,271 in the same month the previous year.

Similarly, November saw 53,367 visitors, compared to 35,006 in 2023, and December recorded a staggering 81,211 tourists, up from 65,139 the previous year.

Koliabhomora boat tourism has emerged as a standout attraction, drawing 1,406 domestic and 819 international tourists. This segment alone generated ₹10.46 lakh in revenue, contributing to the park’s overall success.

The introduction of new tourism activities, including bird watching, trekking, and cycle tracks, has played a pivotal role in attracting more visitors. Officials attribute the surge in tourist numbers to these initiatives, which offer unique ways to explore the park’s rich biodiversity and stunning landscapes.

The record-setting inflow underscores Kaziranga’s status as a premier wildlife destination and highlights the success of recent efforts to enhance the visitor experience.
