Assam: Kisan Mela Inaugurated in Dhubri to Empower Farmers and Promote Sustainable Practices
Guwahati: A two-day Kisan Mela has commenced at the Dhubri District Agriculture Office premises, bringing together farmers, self-help groups (SHGs), and agricultural officials.
The event, organized by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in collaboration with the district agriculture department, aims to enhance the knowledge and market exposure of local farmers.
The Additional Commissioner, Shantana Bora, inaugurated the mela and emphasized the importance of such initiatives to bridge knowledge gaps in agriculture. Bora pointed out that many farmers in the district lack access to essential agricultural training, and this event provides a valuable opportunity for them to learn from experts.
Farmers from various parts of the district are showcasing their produce at stalls, while SHG members are also selling their goods. The mela features training sessions led by agriculture department experts, focusing on best practices and sustainable farming methods.
Key officials present at the event include Dhubri District Agriculture Officer Azim Ahmed, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Salaur Rahman, and retired Agriculture Officer Nirmal Chandra Ghosh, along with other department representatives.
The event is expected to promote knowledge-sharing and strengthen the agricultural community in the region, while encouraging sustainable farming practices and supporting local products.
