Guwahati, 3rd June: With the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 results looming, the Kokrajhar district administration has undertaken comprehensive measures to facilitate a peaceful and orderly vote counting process scheduled for June 4.

Returning Officer Pradeep Kumar Dwivedi has reaffirmed the meticulous arrangements put in place to ensure the smooth functioning of the counting process at the five designated centers spread across the region. These centers, strategically located in Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar, Kajalgaon, Bijni, and Mashalpur in Baksa, will oversee the counting for the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency, spanning three districts – Kokrajhar, Chirang, and Baksa.

A dedicated workforce comprising 27 Assistant Returning Officers and approximately 750 counting personnel has been diligently deployed to oversee the intricate counting procedures. Furthermore, a robust three-tier security framework has been established to safeguard the integrity of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and ensure a secure environment for the counting process.

In a proactive measure to maintain law and order, the Kokrajhar district administration has implemented Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) within a 100-meter radius of the stronghold – the Basic Training Center Kokrajhar.

Expressing confidence in the seamless conduct of the counting process, Dwivedi emphasized the need for all stakeholders to uphold peace and harmony during this critical phase, echoing the peaceful polling phase that concluded without any untoward incidents.

As anticipation mounts for the election results, the Kokrajhar district administration remains committed to facilitating a tranquil and transparent counting process, ensuring the democratic aspirations of the electorate are duly respected and reflected in the outcome.
