Guwahati, July 28, 2024 — In a heartbreaking incident in Dolaigaon village, Bongaigaon district, a laborer tragically lost his life, with allegations of negligence by the electricity department surfacing in the aftermath.
The victim, Mofidul Ali, hailing from Nasatra Abhayapuri, was engaged in maintenance work on 11,000 kV cables when a sudden short circuit caused him to plummet from the top of an electric pole. Despite immediate efforts to save him, Ali was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
This fatal accident, which occurred in the presence of officials from the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL), has sparked serious concerns regarding the adherence to safety protocols and the overall responsibility of the department. Witnesses at the scene have voiced claims that the incident stemmed from inadequate precautions and insufficient oversight during the maintenance task.
