Assam Labourers Allegedly Trapped in Arunachal Pradesh, Families Demand Immediate Release
Northeast Desk, 17th August: A distressing situation has unfolded as at least 10 labourers from Assam’s Lakhimpur district find themselves trapped in Arunachal Pradesh due to their contractor’s alleged actions. Reports indicate that the contractor is preventing the labourers from returning to their homes, leading to a distressing ordeal for the workers.
Hailing from Naoboicha, these labourers were taken to Koloriang in Arunachal Pradesh for work. However, the situation took a dire turn as they allegedly faced mistreatment and were not allowed to go back to their hometown.
The families of these labourers have expressed concern about their well-being, stating that their health conditions have deteriorated due to the demanding work conditions, including working overnight. In a heartbreaking plea for help, the labourers even sent a video to their families, highlighting their plight and urging for assistance to be allowed to return home.
Upon receiving the distressing video, the families reached out to the Lakhimpur Superintendent of Police (SP), seeking urgent intervention and the immediate release of the trapped labourers.
As the families anxiously wait for a resolution and the safe return of their loved ones, the incident underscores the importance of ensuring the welfare and fair treatment of all workers, regardless of their location.
